    Something Different

Posted by Steve on Sep 6th 2017

As knife collectors, we are always looking for something different from the last tactical flipper. Sometimes it is just different handle material but with the Kranos, the entire knife is different. The knife leaves the tactical flipper category, in my opinion. It is very artfully made. It looks very unique but still has the build quality and toughness that I want in a knife. The fit, finish, action, and design, are the greatest.
Thanks for a great knife !

    Handsome and Unique

This is a superb knife with a very handsome and unique look. I am a collector and was attracted to this knife because it looks so different from anything else in my collection. One of the design features that is unique (or at least something I've never seen before) is the locking mechanism. I have many Frame Lock/ Flippers but the Frame Lock on the Kranos is different in a very subtle way. It is almost part 'Frame Lock' and part 'Liner Lock'. When the blade is deployed, the Lock Bar separates from the Black G-10 scale on the handle in order to engage the blade. The Black G-10 scale does not move, it just stays in place. Then when closing the blade, the Lock Bar and the Black G-10 scale just fit back together. When the Lock Bar engaged it does feel a little odd to have a thin piece of G-10 suddenly exposed, but I'm sure the good folks at Spartan Blades believe the G-10 to be strong enough. And there is certainly no problem with the system which works very well and the G-10 Scale and Lock Bar are perfectly machined so they separate and fit back together again with ease.

Finally, the build and quality is excellent and the flipper action is solid yet smooth. The price is extremely reasonable for a knife of this quality. This is my first Spartan Blades knife, but I am sure it will not be my last!
