An excellent knife and way more of an all arounder than it is given credit for. I hate the cliche, but it truly is well balanced which was surprising considering how much blade with is carried to the tip. My only complaint is there is a tiny burr, a ding if you will right where the bevel meets the flat near the tip. It leaves a tiny sharp jut of metal UNDER the DLC coating. I consider it character, but I wish it wasn't there on such an investment
This blade is incredibly well crafted. The balance, the weight, the multiple grip positions; all of those things and more were considered when creating this knife, it seems. I am very happy with my purchase and more than impressed with the level of customer service provided by the company. I had questions, they answered them personally and quickly. Great transaction overall.
Just recieved this knife and couldnt be happier every time I take it out to look at it I find more things I like about it. Blade design is functional and beautiful. As a hobby knife maker I can tell the thought and effort that went into the design of this knife. My only small bit of contention is that the blade is slightly smaller than I was expecting from seeing in the pictures, the pictures make the blade look much stouter than it is. Still rating 5 stars because that is not a problem with the knife at all.
This is m third Spartan Blades knife (Enyos and the Spartan Harsey folder) The blade design is unique and gives a little more usable length to it over a traditional tanto point. The finish is outstanding and the edge is properly razor sharp right out of the box. Balance is perfect and is right at the first scale retention bolt. The finger groove in the handle is nicely placed and is large enough for a gloved finger, The finger groove at the base of the blade, combined with the jimping on the rear spine of the blade makes it easy to control for fine work.
The blade itself is thick and heavy which should be excellent for chopping if it ever came to that. Steel is S35V which I've found to hold up extremely well (S30/35V and CM154 are the only steels I'll consider when buying a knife that I plan on depending on)
All in all - everything is well thought out and what I've come to expect from Spartan
This isn't the prettiest knife you will ever encounter, but it is one of the best cutting and most effective. While it has almost T - Rex look to it, it is an excellent cutter and the reverse tanto point give it a very strong point. I carry this knife for personal defense even though it is rather large. It balances beautifully and really fills the hand for any cutting or thrusting chore you have in mind. I'm very glad I made the investment.
I would rate the Hybris with a 6 if I could. This is one hefty knife with a reverse tanto point - the strongest I have seen on a tanto. It can slice through anything you want to use a knife to cut through, and has very strong lines. Also feels great in the hand. Personally, I like the rugged, beefy look it has. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end of this blade. I have said this before and I'll say it again. Mark and Curtis aren't simply great knife makers, they are artists of the first caliber.
