Spartan Blades is an American knife manufacturer based in North Carolina, forged from U.S. Army Special Forces discipline and built on uncompromising standards of performance.
Co-founded by retired Green Berets Curtis V. Iovito and Mark Carey, Spartan Blades was established with a clear purpose: to design and produce cutting tools that can be trusted in the real world — without compromise.
From the beginning, the company has combined operational experience, disciplined design, and American manufacturing to create knives defined by strength, precision, and durability.

Founders
Co-Founder / Co-Owner. Curtis served 20+ years in the U.S. military, including U.S. Marine, Army Ranger, and Green Beret. He leads product design, ensuring every knife is functional, balanced, and field-proven.
Co-Founder / Co-Owner. Mark served 21+ years in the U.S. Army as Infantryman, Special Forces Medic, and SF Operations Sergeant. He oversees operational discipline and strategic growth at Spartan Blades.
OUR HISTORY

2008 – Humble Beginnings
Retired Green Berets Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey founded Spartan Blades in a pre-Civil War mule barn in Southern Pines, North Carolina. A company built on precision craftsmanship and disciplined standards began to take shape.

2010 – The Spartan-Harsey Model I
A collaboration with legendary knifemaker Bill Harsey resulted in the Spartan-Harsey Model I, establishing Spartan Blades as a serious presence in the professional and collector knife market.

2016 – Spartan-Harsey Folder
The introduction of the Spartan-Harsey Folder marked a milestone in the company’s evolution, combining field-tested durability with refined, collector-grade design.

2010–2024 – BLADE Show Awards
Spartan Blades earned multiple awards at the prestigious International BLADE Show, recognizing innovation, design excellence, craftsmanship, and manufacturing quality.


2019 – Partnership with KA-BAR forming Pineland Cutlery, Inc
Spartan Blades partners with the legendary KA-BAR brand to produce an innovative tactical line, combining heritage design with Spartan precision and durability.

2024 – Euro Blade Worx (EBX)
Our new workshop in Europe, Euro Blade Worx (EBX), brings Spartan Blades craftsmanship to an international audience, expanding our global presence while preserving quality and legacy.
