The King Tut special edition of the Spartan Harsey folding knife is superb. The usual outstanding level of construction is enhanced by this fantastic decorative style that only the Egyptians could have created and Spartan captured in fine detail. You never disappoint SPARTAN Blades.
I have a number of SHFs, so I knew what I was getting. The best pocket knife I can find, with the added satisfaction of a very interesting Egyptian design. As usual, the workmanship is excellent. The SHF fits my hand perfectly, and opening/closing with one hand has become automatic. Love the knife! Also, this is my second Magnacut blade - I've asked and Spartan has denied reducing the grind angle, but the Magnacut seems sharper than the other steels they use. I'm in the process of steepening the angle on another Magnacut SHF, to get to a truly sharp blade. I'm careful how I use my knives, have never had a problem with a steeper angle and appreciate the increased sharpness. I inherited my Father's knife collection. Every one of those knives is razor sharp - he patiently reset the angle and sharpened them 'til they met with his satisfaction. He was a remarkable craftsman.
I was both overjoy and slightly disappointed when I received my copy of the King Tut folder. I was overjoy because this folder is gorgeous, very well made and beautifully engraved. I was disappointed because the colors in reality are not as vibrant as the pictures depict. The blues are a more muted aqua color and less blue, and depending on the angle of viewing, could look washed out with lightly variations. All thoughts totaled, it is definitely a "keeper," as a treasured art object, and not as an EDC.
I am, and have been, a big fan of Bill Harsey's folder. These knives have a nice heft to them and they feel good in hand and are well balanced. Spartan has created a number of special editions with nice artwork. A beautiful piece of art on a great hand made knife. What more could you ask for?
Perfect example of the quality one has come to expect from Spartan Blades. This knife is beautiful and built like a tank. Great work. So glad I purchased one.
