This is a superb carry blade. A real gem. It is indestructible. Just the right size, both the blade and the handle. Spartan Blades are such high quality. DOL
I was very excited to get this knife. It does feel good in the hand, the blade is robust and thick, however, it doesn’t hold edge well at all. I find myself sharpening this knife way more than I should have to. Not sure if the heat treat on this blade was achieved correctly. I’m aware the steel this blade is made of if heat treated well holds edge very well, but mine doesn’t at all. To keep it sharp, I need to sharpen about once a week. Which reminds me of much cheaper blades I’ve used in the past. The blade also rusts very easily. Which in not a fan of either. And for 160 bucks, ide have hoped for a better blade. Consider making this blade with something like magnacut or s35 for an improvement.
I purchased the Alala for the purpose of having a quality, durable and multi functional fixed blade on my plate carrier setup. I'm very happy to say that the Alala is indeed that perfect fit. Paired with a Ferro Concepts (Knife Nook) With the Alala's slim but sturdy blade and shorter overall length, it fits perfectly between placard and carrier. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Very well made fits great in my small hands the style is great fast delivery.
The handle is the right size for my small hands
I really like this knife. Very high quality blade, good texture and ergonomics on the handle. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is the holster system. It’s designed to be used iwb or owb but the secondary retention loop is useless when carrying iwb. Also my iwb loop broke the first time I used it. So I tried other belt clip options and fomi clips don’t work. Regular belt clips don’t work either because the locking mechanism on the sheath and the shape of it doesn’t allow for those to work. The only thing I could mount to this and have a decent draw angle is an ulti clip, and it doesn’t even fit well either. It doesn’t fit flush, and part of the clip sticks off the side of the sheath which kind of pokes me in the side. I definitly think some work needs to be done to the holster to make it more modular and customizable for peoples needs.
Excellent quality. The locking sheath is a great feature. I don't hesitate to carry the knife handle down in any situation. Made in the USA.
I have had this knife for about a year and a half. It has gone though 2 camping trips and a back packing trip to the Kalalau camp from the Nāpali Coast. It is a beast of a work horse knife. I love Spartan Blades for their integrity, customer service, and honest blade design. I plan on buying more blades as I come up with more excuses to need them. haha!
My 4th purchase from Spartan Blades. Superior quality products and outstanding customer service. Will definitely return to purchase a few more knives I am looking at. Great American company!
The knife was a bit smaller than I expected, but that in no way implies any negative comment. I mounted this horizontally on my war belt and its a perfect size and fit. The quality is there, great balance and it's got some weight to it, which I appreciate. If I could offer one suggestion to Spartan. It would be great if you offered an Olive Drab nylon sheath option for a replacement like your current Coyote and Multicam.
