Installing the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok™: What You Need to Know

If you’re a custom knife enthusiast like those of us here at Spartan Blades, you don’t just want your knives sitting at home in a display case or mounted and framed up on your wall. Sure, antique and handcrafted knives can make for great display pieces in your home -- but knives are made to be used, aren’t they? And if you want to have a blade available to use when you need it, you’ll obviously need to carry that blade on your person.

But whether you’re talking about an everyday carry knife or a survival knife that you take with you on camping trips, carrying a knife can be problematic. There are a ton of sheath options out there, including inside the waistband, outside the waistband, around the neck, and more. But not all of these carrying options are created equal. Some of them are more stable and reliable than others.

Particularly when it comes to carrying an outside the waistband knife while engaging in physical activity, you want a belt loop mounting system that will both keep your knife securely in place and make it readily available whenever you need it. How Does the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok™ Work?

While the Tek-Lok™ is an awesome accessory, it can be a little hard to see how it works (or, for that matter, how exactly it’s installed) at first glance. Don’t worry, though: we’ll explain.

The Tek-Lok™ integrates perfectly with your Kydex belt sheath thanks to its unique locking system. With a Tek-Lok™, you’re able to carry your knife either vertically or horizontally depending upon your preference. And you can rest assured that it will stay securely in place.

But how does the Tek-Lok™ work?

Simply put, the Tek-Lok™ operates like a door on a hinge. It swings closed and is then locked into place around your blade, making for an incredibly secure carry. At the same time, though, it’s easy to unlock and open, allowing you to deploy your knife in a flash.

The Advantages of the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok™

It can be difficult to find a knife carrying solution that allows you to stow your knife securely while also being able to access it quickly. There are lots of options out there, but many of them are lacking in one aspect or another. And, in some cases, these solutions fail to integrate with a Kydex sheath.

The great thing about the Tek-Lok™, though, is that it both perfectly fits the body’s contour (thereby avoiding hot spots) while also offering a user friendly locking system that’s easy to use and reliable. How Do I Install the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok™?

Installing the Blade-Tech Tek-Lok™ might seem a little confusing at first. But trust us: it’s easier than it looks.

When you receive your Tek-Lok™, you’ll notice that it comes with (2) 3/16” posts, (2) 1/4” screws, and (2) 1/8” spacers. These allow you to attach it to a variety of belts and sheaths, including a Kydex sheath.
