This knife is designed for combat and bushcraft. It has a hearty blade made of Magnacut steel. The grip is a masterful design fitting my hands perfectly and I wear a large glove size off the rack. I have trained with this blade as a combat knife practicing my basic movements and it works very well. The blade is also designed for use in the bushcraft area cutting down and shaping material for survival. The thick spine of the blade facilitates cutting through grasses and logs alike. One of the best all around usable blades you can buy. The Spartan Blades pro series knives are worth every penny I have spent on them.
I gotta say, I was extremely excited about this purchase. I researched and had it in cart numerous times over a 6 month period. It is expensive, but I really liked the form and presumed function from reading the multiple reviews. Upon delivery and currently the knife is very hard to unsheathe from its mounted position. Up to and including that it has marked the endpoint of the knife itself. I want to be very clear, I attached it to the Molle of my edc bag and have not used the knife, at all. I accumulated everything on my dream edc bag and mounted the knife of front with Molle (picture included). Fast forward, I took my bag to training for tactical and unsheathed the knife at the request of a fellow trainee to show. I talked about the company and where I had heard about the brand and the cause. The fellow trainee showed me the edge of the knife and asked me if I had used it? I told him the truth and said no. He said to me that the knife was extremely dull and could not “cut thru butter” I took the knife home and performed a paper test and tried to chop a piece of cardboard, both basically were torn from the auxiliary weight of the blade, he is correct the knife is extremely dull. I would think for the amount of money this knife is to procure and the cause it supports the knife would be more of an avenue to grow Spartan Blades then a hindrance to justify a huge well thought investment. I own Buck, Case, Benchmade and Kershaw and ALL of them are ready for use in edc, retain edge and are consistent with minimal maintenance. Needless to say highly embarrassing and somewhat disappointing for the investment. But, in closing the fit and handle are great, functionality is perfect in training. It’s just again disappointing to have such a dull expensive knife, it’s like carrying a Kimber but not loading one in the chamber in my opinion.
Great Design! This knife has good heft & is good for chopping as well as standard use. The nylon sheath is good for ambidextrous use. Happy I added it to my collection!
This is my 5th purchase and still very pleased with the quality and craftsmanship of their products. Brought one for my son who will add to his deployment kit. Certainly not the last purchase from this American company.
This is one of the best thought out fighting knives on the market. Everything about it has been designed for one purpose. The more purposes a tool has, the less effective it is at any one task. It is a beautiful equation. Fits perfectly in the hand and the balance is flawless. The blade is just the right length and the handle fills the hand beautifully. The recurve blade reminds me of a kukri in that it has tremendous shearing power. Having studied knife fighting for many years, for me this is the best fighting blade I ever purchased.
One Of The Best Fix Blades Ever Made, Nylon Sheath Is Phenomenal For Horizontal And Side Carry.
