Excellent Quality, Fast Shipping, Nice Personal Touch
Ordered over a weekend...had tracking by Monday morning. Can't say enough good things about Spartan Blades customer service. They even left a hand written note thanking me for my business; nice touch. I'll be buying at least one more Harsey from them in the near term.
In terms of the Difensa....exactly the quality you'd expect. -
Harsey Difensa
This is my first high quality knife and I have to say... It's surpassed anything I could have expected. I'm extremely happy with it! I've got to say these guys make a top quality knife and this will not be my last purchase with them. Thanks Spartan Blades!

Great knife
Bad a** brute. Could be a bushcraft blade, a survival knif, a SHTF tool, defense, offense, hunting. The blade is stout enough to take apart an elk carcass.
I have 7 Spartan Blades and if I had to pick just one it would be the Difensa.
A caveat..........big knife. Backpackers who weigh ounces might want a lighter knife. -
Wanted a REAL knife....
I have been through 10-15 knives over the last couple years. I drop them, cut all types of material for work and then use it outdoors for my personal life. I have had Kershaws, Benchmade, Camillus, and all of the big box brands..... Some are better than others, some last longer than others, but eventually the fixed blade handles crack or the action of the folder drops off badly. I maintain, sharpen and lube them religiously and frankly I was tired of dropping $80 - $200 on these "low rent" knives. I have a friend that recommended looking into customs and handmades and thats where I began readin about Spartan. If I was going to spend the money, it had to be made in the USA.... I ended up grabbing the last Harsey Difensa from the Sparten website. I wasnt sure I would keep it, but as soon as it hit my hand, I knew it wasnt going anywhere. It fits my big paws perfectly. Its balanced to perfection and the craftsmen ship is second to none. I have since beat the hell out of it as I normally do and after 3 months it finally lost its edge. All other knives lost their edge on or before 30 days. Everything about the knife is incredible, from the hand written note thanking me to the feel in your hands to the toughness of both the blade, sheath, and handle.
Well done Spartan, you have a lifetime customer!!!!

Spartan Harsey Difensa
In 1943, a battle was fought between the U.S. / Canadian First Special Service Force and German troops in Italy. Known as the Battle for Monte la Difensa, the courageous performance of U.S. and Canadian forces here was essential to the eventual Allied victory in Italy.
When the Canadian special forces commissioned Spartan Blades and master knifemaker William Harsey to produce a blade for them, we knew we wanted to create something special. Our goal was to craft a knife that would serve their special forces well in the years to come -- both in the northern woods of their homeland and on worldwide deployments alike. The result was the Spartan Harsey Difensa, named after the infamous and hard-fought victory achieved by cooperation between Canadian and U.S. forces.
The name speaks to this custom tactical knife’s excellent all-around field and battlefield use. The spear point profile of this handcrafted knife is flat ground, with a tapered top edge that makes for excellent tip strength, penetration balance, and sheer cutting ability.
The full tang and handle of the Spartan Harsey Difensa allow for a neutral balance in the user’s hand. Combined with the textured, ergonomic canvas Micarta handle -- modified from our Model II with no rear jimping -- this custom combat knife offers the wielder a comfortable, confident grip whether wet or dry.
