    Difensa

The knife is very well built, good balance, five stars on the build of it. The design I have some problems with, the handle is to short in my hand, it's. Seems to be made for a smaller handed person. If the handle was a bit longer. It would definitely be all five stars

    Perfection

This being my first spartan knife I didn’t know what to expect. Out of the box the quality, tolerances, and craftsmanship is spot on. This is a great field utility knife that would be good for combat or outdoors activities. I really like that the blade steel is in s45vn. If you’re on the fence about this knife just pull the trigger, you won’t be disappointed.

Great knife! Nice size, handle is very comfortable. Great profile, and scary sharp! My only suggestion would be to add some jimping on the spine. When you choke up using index finger indent at the choil it would add to the control for fine work.

As a machinist/fabricator I appreciate the flawless build quality of every aspect of this tool. The balance and fit in the hand are perfect for me as well.

I was expecting a good knife out of the box, but this blew away my expectations. The workmanship was excellent. Blade wicked sharp. This is a knife I could bet my life on. I am awaiting on the Harsey folder in SVN45 next!

    I Love Holding This Thing!

I haven’t made it into the backcountry with it yet so these are my first impressions. I’m 47 years old and have had a knife on my hip practically my whole life. That being said, this is by far my favourite knife of all time. I won’t go into long details about the lines, weight, balance, and grip, I’ll simply tell you this knife feels amazing in your hands! It really just becomes an extension of yourself. It feels like it has some life to it, it hums. Why 4 and not 5 stars then? What could have been a perfect knife (and at this price point it damn well should be) was ruined by how poorly the knife’s edge/grind was applied. From tip to heel you’ll get 2mm at one end thinning down to 1mm at the other. This unevenness flips on the reverse side. The result is an asymmetrical tip that I will eventually have to balance out. Truly disappointing in that regard but if I had to leave my house today, and was only allowed to keep one of my personal possessions, I’d take my Difensa.

Spartan Harsey Difensa

In 1943, a battle was fought between the U.S. / Canadian First Special Service Force and German troops in Italy. Known as the Battle for Monte la Difensa, the courageous performance of U.S. and Canadian forces here was essential to the eventual Allied victory in Italy.

When the Canadian special forces commissioned Spartan Blades and master knifemaker William Harsey to produce a blade for them, we knew we wanted to create something special. Our goal was to craft a knife that would serve their special forces well in the years to come -- both in the northern woods of their homeland and on worldwide deployments alike. The result was the Spartan Harsey Difensa, named after the infamous and hard-fought victory achieved by cooperation between Canadian and U.S. forces.

The name speaks to this custom tactical knife’s excellent all-around field and battlefield use. The spear point profile of this handcrafted knife is flat ground, with a tapered top edge that makes for excellent tip strength, penetration balance, and sheer cutting ability.

The full tang and handle of the Spartan Harsey Difensa allow for a neutral balance in the user’s hand. Combined with the textured, ergonomic canvas Micarta handle -- modified from our Model II with no rear jimping -- this custom combat knife offers the wielder a comfortable, confident grip whether wet or dry.
